The Story You Tell Is The Life You Live

I remember being a little girl, lying in bed, asking to hear just one more story. There was something magical about it, how a few simple words could create a whole world in my mind. That wonder still lives in me. Even now, give me a good book and I’m in it. Feeling every word. Imagining every scene. 100% invested in the characters

Lately, I’ve been thinking less about the stories we read and more about the stories we tell.

Because here’s the truth:
The most powerful story you’ll ever hear is the one you’re telling yourself.

That voice in your head, the one narrating your worth, your choices, your circumstances, is writing the script for your entire experience.
Wanna know the wild part?
Your mind doesn’t know the difference between fact and fiction. Read that again…

That’s not just a catchy affirmation. That’s neuroscience.
That’s why visualizations work. That’s why journaling works.
That’s why “living as if” can rewire your reality.

I’ve been catching myself lately, seeing the stories I’ve been unknowingly repeating.
Stories like, “I have to be the one to hold it all,” or “If I am not busy I am not moving needles.”

But I’m also noticing how my gift as a Projector lets me hear the stories others are telling themselves too, even the unspoken ones.

It’s one of my greatest superpowers.
Now, I’m learning to turn it inward with compassion.

Because when you slow down enough to get curious, you can shift the whole plot.

You get to ask:

  • Is this story actually true?

  • Is it helpful?

  • Do I want to keep telling it or is it time to change the narrative?

You’re the storyteller.
You always have been.
So what would happen if you told one that empowered you instead of kept you small?
