Say Yes? Say No? Which one am I supposed to do?!?!?!
There are hundreds of articles, videos and podcasts dedicated to teaching you how to say NO more often. Ok then, I will do it! I will say NO to more things and life will be spectacular! Wait, now you find hundreds of resources that tell you to say YES to more! Confusing, right?
What if I told you that both are right?!? The truth is that there is a delicate balancing act between saying YES and NO and you have absolute control of how these decisions influence your life and empower you to be your best self.
I have heard that for everything you say YES to you are saying NO to something else. I believe that is true but being mindful of the things that you are saying YES to has a huge impact on this trajectory set in motion with that decision.
Practice getting in the habit of pausing to truly think about what serves you, brings you joy and allows you to step a bit out of your comfort zone to learn and grow!
Here are some things to consider as you ponder your next YES or NO and make decisions that serve your best self!
Say YES to these things:
· Things that set your soul on fire
· Things that are a little scary -- heck, even A LOT scary
· Things that you WANT to do
· Things you are good at, have not yet tried or are working on getting better at
· Things that will help you learn and grow
· Things that make you smile
Say NO to these things:
· Things that you would only say YES to because you’re worried what others will think of you if you say NO
· Things you truly DO NOT want to do (this is different than going out of your comfort zone, trust me)
· Things that make you so uncomfortable you feel anxiety about doing them
· Things that do NOT serve you in learning and growing into your best self
