The Hidden Story That Might Be Keeping You Stuck
Today’s a bit of a truth bomb because this keeps coming up for me—and I’m pretty sure it might be coming up for you too.
“If you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them.”
Oof. The first time I heard that during a coaching session (yep, coaches need coaches too!), my immediate reaction was like, ooof, burn. 🔥
I was sitting there, trying to explain away why I couldn’t do this, why I felt that, and basically rattling off all the reasons I was stuck. You know the drill—because of this, and that, and don’t forget about that thing over there.
But after some deep breaths and quiet reflection, it hit me like a ton of bricks: I wasn’t practicing what I preach. And it happens—it happens in those quiet moments when fear sneaks in and tries to convince us we’re not ready, we’re not capable, or we just don’t have what it takes.
Now, when I share this line with my clients, I usually get one of three reactions:
Crickets.
Excuses.
A little bit of anger.
And honestly? I get it. Because deep down, we know it’s true. We know when we’re holding onto stories that keep us small. But here’s the thing:
Recognizing it is the first step to releasing it.
So, are you arguing for your limitations… or are you ready to let them go?
